It has been a long week that is for certain/serious. I just got back from hittin’ the bars with the boys in downtown Norfolk. I got seperated from my crew, but got to hang out with my good buddy Ryan for the majority of the time out in dowtown. Unfortunately here on the east coast the smoking in bars ban is not applicable so I smell like beer (my own doing) and stale cigarette smoke (everyone else). It’s smells like that make me so glad that I’ve tossed that habit. Anydangway we spent the first 2 hours or so at a great Irish pub with outstanding live music, and despite his traditional Irish song list he played some Bob Dylan for us. The whole Irish atmosphere fondly reminded me on last St. Patty’s day with my doc (corpseman) Kevin and good friend Matt back in Seattle.
The week was long but all in all very good. I got tear gassed, was the weapons control officer for a .50 cal shoot on a mock boat, ran the morning physical training at the pool and a few neato things. Things are progressing nicely I guess, but I still miss my team and the whole “what could have been scenario”. I went to the Vanguard store in VA today with a buddy so he could pick up his flight wings to put on his desert cammies. When we got there I browsed all the badges and awards from all the services, coming across the Second Class Diver pin and my chest tightened. Thoughts flooded my head about being the first 2nd class diver at MSST Seattle and how much more I’d stick out my chest with that helmet on my chest permentantly affixed to my uniform until I retired. Dreams of what could have been, but were never granted to me… just another hurdle to bound over… soon enough.
It’s 11:32 right now, I’m about 3/4 drunk and exhuasted. I’ve been working out (on average) 6 days a week and having one day off from work a week (yeah that’s right we work weekends here at training). I’m very impressed with my stamina and muscle growth within the last 3 weeks. Thanks to a few supplements and my dedication to kicking my own ass, I’ve progressed nicely back into (kinda sorta) fighting shape. Basically it is nice to see a distinct growth in my arms and chest after turning into a malnourished Etheopian child during my tonselectomy recovery stage.
In conclusion:
- This blog is not proofread at all (and I’ve been drinking)
- I hate smelling like other people’s cigarette smoke
- I’m getting buff
- Seattle T-Birds hockey is the shit… Norfolk Admiral hockey should keep their day jobs.
- Goodnight
